Garages are complicated and dangerous environments and should not be used as playgrounds for children.
Recommend always using caution when in a garage.
Safety considerations make it desirable to have both a force reverse and photoelectric eye reverse on vehicle door openers. Photoelectric eyes, when working properly, will help prevent property damage to vehicles that may be partially under the vehicle door because the vehicle breaks the photoelectric beam, preventing the door from closing. Unfortunately, photoelectric eyes are often played with by children and are often out of alignment, which is why a force reverse is also desired. If the photoelectric eyes are out of alignment, a force reverse, when working properly, will help prevent a child or pet from being crushed by a closing garage vehicle door.
The force exerted by a closing vehicle door can approach 200 pounds per square inch, enough force to seriously injure or kill a child or pet. The force reverse typically is a user operable control. A review of the vehicle door opener instructions may show how to adjust the sensitivity setting properly. If no instructions are available, contact the manufacturer for instructions. If you are not comfortable making this important safety feature adjustment yourself, you should have the adjustment made by a qualified professional.

Recommend regular monitoring, testing, and maintenance of vehicle door openers and safety devices.
Fire door assemblies (door, frame, and associated hardware) between the garage and the living area will help prevent the spread of a fire from the garage into the house. Home inspectors cannot verify a door assembly as fire rated unless a rating plate is attached to the door, and the tag typically is affixed so that it is difficult to remove or fall off.
Typically, the only way to have a hanging door given a rating when the label is missing is to have the manufacturer provide a label, which is unlikely since the manufacturer probably is going to want to see the door assembly to ensure its condition and other factors before reaffixing a label. Many manufacturers will not re-label a door after the tag falls off since most doors that lose their tags typically are pretty old. Contact information for the manufacturer typically is located on the missing rating plate.
Fire door assemblies should have self-closers installed to fully close the door without any pulling or pushing.
Recommend installing self-closing door mechanisms on all garage doors leading to the interior.
